Please
note: The Morandi House is not open to the public
yet.
Giorgio Morandi (Bologna 1890-1964) lived almost all
his life in this house. After his father died, Morandi,
moved into this house in 1933 with his mother and
his three sisters for the rest of his life. He worked
and slept in a single room, surrounded by the simple,
dust-laden objects he used in his paintings.
Morandi’s
adventure as man and artist will be testified for
by the restoration and re-opening of his home, Via
Fondazza 36, in Bologna, carried out thanks to the
help of the Municipality of Bologna and Unindustria
Bologna.
The reconstruction of the environment is made under
the guidance of the architect Massimo Iosa Ghini.
Ample space will by allotted to research, with access
to Morandi’s library and to numerous documents
belonging to the artist. There will be a reading room
for study and a multi-purpose room for meetings, seminaries
and exhibitions.
