The Bronx Zoo is home to more than 6,000 animals, including some of the world’s most endangered species. With 265 wooded acres devoted to spacious naturalistic habitats, it is the largest metropolitan wildlife conservation park in the United States.

Hours
Open 365 days at 10 am.
Closing times: Monday-Friday, 5 pm; weekends and holidays, 5:30 pm. (November-March: 4:30 pm, all days). Holiday Lights: Nov. 26 - January 2 (closed Dec. 24) hours are: 5:30-9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday & Saturday.

Admission
Thursday-Tuesday, adults, $9.00; children, 2-12, $5.00; seniors, 65 and over, $5.00. November 2 through January 3 admission is $6 for adults; $3 for children (2-12) and seniors (65+). January 3 through March 31 admission is $4 for adults; $2 for children and seniors. Children under age 2 are always admitted free. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Advance discounted group rates are available for ten or more people. Call 1-800-YES-2868.

How to get there
Parking for the Bronx Zoo is located just off exit 6 of the Bronx River Parkway. Cars, $6.00; Buses, $8.00.

By Car:
From Manhattan: Triborough Bridge to Bruckner Expwy east to Bronx River Pkwy north. Or, west Side Highway to Cross Bronx Expwy east to Bronx River Pkwy north.
From Westchester County, NY: Cross County Parkway to Bronx River Parkway south.
From Brooklyn & Queens: Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to Cross Bronx Expwy west, to Bronx River Pkwy north.
From Long Island, NY: Throgs Neck Bridge to Cross Bronx Expwy west to Bronx River Parkway north.
From Connecticut: New England Thruway (I-95) to Pelham Pkwy west to Bronx Zoo. Or, Merritt Pkwy south to Cross County Pkwy west, then Bronx River Pkwy south.
From New Jersey: George Washington Bridge to Cross Bronx Expwy east to Bronx River Pkwy north.

By Subway:
IRT #2 Express to Pelham Pkwy or IRT #5 Express to East 180 St. and transfer to the #2 Express. Walk west to the Bronxdale entrance.
Or IND D Express to Fordham Rd, then change to eastbound Bx12 Bus. Exit bus at Southern Blvd. and walk east on Fordham Rd to entrance.

By Bus:
Bx9 and Bx19 buses to Southern Blvd. entrance.
Or Bx12 and Bx22 to Fordham Rd and Southern Blvd. and walk east on Fordham Rd to entrance.
Or Q44 to 180 St. and Boston Rd. Walk north to entrance.
Or Liberty Line: BxM11 air conditioned express bus from Mid-Manhattan makes various stops on Madison Ave. in Manhattan; call Liberty Lines at (718) 652-8400.
